Speaker Biography - Amit Kumar (Edmonton, Alberta)

Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Alberta

Dr. Kumar has a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta in the area of utilization of biomass for power and liquid fuels. He has a Master of Engineering from Asian Institute of Technology and B.Sc. in Energy Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology.

Dr. Kumar’s current research interests include techno-economic assessment of bioenergy systems including biopower, biofuels; large scale biomass transport and logistics including pipeline transport of biomass; simulation and modeling of energy systems; energy planning and forecasting; and greenhouse gas mitigation technologies. He has established Sustainable Energy Research Laboratory at the University of Alberta and is currently supervising five masters and two doctoral students. He has published and presented more than 40 papers and technical reports in this field.
