Speaker Biography - Bill Adams (Kamloops, BC)

Manufacturing Services Manager, Domtar Mill

Bill Adams has worked in the pulp and paper industry for 21 years and is currently Manufacturing Services Manager at the Domtar mill (formerly Weyerhaeuser) in Kamloops, B.C. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia in 1987 and joined Western Pulp as a project engineer. He joined Weyerhaeuser in 1989 at the Prince Albert, Saskatchewan mill. Bill has spent the last 19 years in engineering, maintenance and operations roles in Weyerhaeuser's Prince Albert, Kamloops and Dryden pulp and paper operations. He also spent 2 years at Weyerhaeuser's Federal Way, Washington corporate headquarters in the Competitive Analysis Group. Bill was awarded the RM Fowler Memorial Scholarship in 1990 and completed a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of B.C. in 1990 -91 while on leave from Weyerhaeuser. He completed his MBA in International Management from Asia Pacific International University in 1996. Bill was the chairman of the Bioenergy Subcommittee of the B.C. Pulp & Paper Task Force and is currently one of the industry representatives on the B.C. Pulp & Paper Self-Generation Working Group (PPSGWG) and represents Domtar on the Joint Industry Electricity Steering Committee. Bill's career has touched every aspect of pulp, paper and energy systems including capital planning, project development, environmental permitting, construction management, fuel and electrical contracts, operation and maintenance.
