Speaker Biography - Merja Strengell (Vantaa, Finland)

Leading Specialist, Environmental Management Issues, and Department Manager, Pulp Mill Engineering, Pöyry Forest Industry Oy

Ms. Strengell has over 20 years of experience in the pulp and paper industry. She worked for nine years at Sunila Oy – a pulp mill in Southern Finland – where she was responsible for environmental issues, quality and customer service. In 1995 she transferred to Metso Paper (then known as Valmet) where she held several positions in project development and R&D. Her main focus was on improving the environmental performance and resource efficiency of pulp and paper processes. Her last assignment at Metso Paper was Vice President, Quality and Environment. She started with Pöyry in 2005.

Ms. Strengell has a Masters degree in environmental technology and pulp and paper technology from Helsinki University of Technology.
